heal.abstract	The POM is being used to study the general circulation and water mass formation in the Aegean Sea. The results indicate that the wind stress is the main driving mechanism but the heat and water fluxes are necessary for a realistic simulation of the seasonal variability. The main general circulation features are well reproduced while T and S characteristics are close to observational values.	en
